Pune law enforcement officials have arrested Vodafone's Assistant VP of Customer Service and a few employees for misusing a customer's Aadhaar to illegally activate a SIM on his name.
The victim, a retired DSP, visited the Vodafone Store in Paud Road and handed over his Aadhaar card to convert his post-paid sim into a prepaid sim.
However, a Vodafone official tried to activate a new SIM using the victim's Aadhaar card, a process which alerted the victim after he received multiple 'authentication failed' alerts on his mobile number.
After filing a complaint, the Vodafone employees were booked by the police and further investigation is underway.
